Spring Break: Day Two: Concerning Pools and Shrimp

April 1, 2007 9:53 PM

ur first full day in Florida was extremely awesome. First, we woke up at about noon or so. Maybe later. When we finally got our shit together, we headed to some restaurant for breakfast and then to the grocery store, where we bought enough food to feed a small army.

We came back to our awesome house, jumped in our excellent pool, and had pretty much the best time ever. We started off by playing a good amount of pool volleyball. The fact that the pool goes from very shallow to very deep in a short distance complicated the whole matter. Still, we got a pretty good game going, with L-Dawg and RPM taking on X-tina and I. My team ultimately lost, but we put up a good fight and kept it pretty close. L-Dawg and RPM then easily trounced Utah and Vice.

Then Vice invented a new form of pool jousting: RPM and Utah each got on one of the floating cushion things, put a toy plastic bucket on the end of one of the noodles, and tried to whack the other one's bucket off with another noodle. It was hilarious--video forthcoming.

Eventually, I declared myself the sea king, ruler of the entire pool. I even fashioned a sea throne out of those floating noodle pool toys. Although I attempted to be a benevolent ruler, my subjects eventually rebelled and overthrew me. Oh well.

We got hungry, so we started preparing dinner. Since the house comes with a pretty sweet propane grill, we decided that we should put it to good use. We skewered pineapples, bell peppers, asparagus, and marinated shrimp--which L-Dawg then threw on the barbie, the fucking Aussie bastard. Dinner was great, healthy, but unfortunately not as filling as I would have liked. In any event, after dinner, we walked about a mile to the beach, where we watched a pretty awesome sunset. Then we walked back to the house.

We sat around for a while and made a few sandwiches because some of us were hungry--and by "some of us," I mean "me." After filling up, L-Dawg, Utah, and I jumped back in the pool and entertained ourselves for a few minutes while we all talked and hung out. Then we came back into the house, watched the last few minutes of Superman II on TV.

Now, some of us are just sitting around watching Law & Order: SVU. I'm probably going to go to bed soon. Today was a good day. Tomorrow, we plan on getting an early start and going to the beach all day. It should be awesome.
