I Voted
November 4, 2008 8:43 AM
o, yeah, I voted. I usually hate getting up early and that was still true today. But I didn't want to stand in some huge line and I have work to do today--which sucks, by the way. But I went and voted and it wasn't too big of a pain in the ass and there were more people there than I've ever seen and there were a lot of younger voters, too. And a bunch of people registering. Many of them seemed to me like maybe they were voting for the first time. I find this encouraging.
I've voted in every presidential election that I've been eligible to vote for. And a lot of the local elections, too. And this is the first time that I've voted for a candidate that I really, really believe in. That was a strange feeling, and I kind of choked up.

As much as I don't like your guy, I envy you the opportunity to vote for someone you really believe in. I'm still waiting for that chance.
I realized as I was reading this that, of the two presidential elections in which I've been eligible to vote, I haven't voted on election day for either. In 2004 I was in Montreal, and this year I voted early because I didn't want to deal with the lines and waking up early is, as you said, a pain in the ass. Robert accompanied David to vote across the street though, and it was cute.
And yeah, I got a little choked up too on my way out of the city-county building, a far cry from how I felt about Kerry. This year I was staring at my ballot grinning like an imbecile. I think the lady at the poll place thought I was maybe a little slow.
I'm hesitant to chill the champagne already, but I'm feeling okay about it. May the best MEN win.
IJWTS wow! Why can't I think of tihngs like that?
